Few days ago when Jenny was returning back to home from her office at around 5:30 PM. She lost her phone on the way. Jenny was unknown about it. When she reached home, she realized that her phone had been missing. Jenny immediately rang to her phone. But, she got no response as expected. She continuously kept calling but got no response. At last, it was 10:45 PM when Jenny was about to fall asleep she thought to make one last attempt and called on her number and someone picked it. Voila! She was excited and the person answered “Your mobile phone is with me, come and collect it from me at my office in Tinkune.”
Jenny was happy and asked for his number before ending the conversation. The person gave his number but Jenny gave a ring to the number and confirmed if the phone was ringing on his side. Her mother said “Thank You God my prayers worked”. Jenny was content after getting to know that she will get her phone back and went to sleep immediately.
As per the taking they had, Jenny was there to meet the guy who had her phone. But the guy who called Jenny didn't come. She tried his phone several times, earlier the phone was ringing but the person was not picking it up. Later the stranger switched off both the numbers. Jenny’s and his own. Jenny got angry and waited for an hour at Tinkune.
Now Jenny had no idea what to do? Since she is from IT background she had an idea about Truecaller. Without wasting a single second she searched the number on Truecaller. She got to know the name of the person which she thought might be correct. She searched for the person on Facebook. As usual Facebook showed her endless list of people with the same name. Jenny just picked up one contact and went through his Facebook profile. To her surprise she found that he worked at some government office which was nearby the area he called her to. She was not sure if it was the same person but she assumed that this might be the same guy and she randomly went to the Office and talked to the receptionist. She confidently said “Mr. Jack had called me here, Can I meet him?”. The receptionist answered that there was no one named like what Jenny had mentioned. Jenny was hopeless that she might not get her phone back but before leaving the office she thought to ask other people who worked in the same office. They said that he might be working in another branch which was 10 minutes away from that place.
Jenny rushed to the other office with a hope that she might get to meet him. She was determined to get her phone back. On her way back she was recalling herself complaining about her phone few days backs. She wished to have an iPhone soon. That was the moment when she realized how important something is until it's gone. She prayed and she was more confident now, she strongly believed in intuitions. She was somehow sure she was following the same guy but who knows.
She directly rushed to the computer department of the entire office area. Again intuitions!
She went on in the same manner very confidently and bold this time being unsure if she landed to the right place, “Mr Jack called me, I had a meeting with him today at 1 PM” to one of the colleagues. To which he replied “He is on a leave today”. Jenny was more hopeful than ever.
With the vision to confirm the guy’s contact number, Jenny asked the colleague to call the guy. Meanwhile the colleague had been typing the number, she saw the number on his phone. And guess what the numbers matched! She was excited and felt she finally found his office address. She was sure she would get her phone back. She returned to her office and began to share her experience with her colleagues. They told her that she would get it.
Her colleagues tried the stranger's number, he switched it on but to her surprise he cut the phone call and switched it off again. She was mad at the person and thought of taking an action against him as she already knew his name and his office address.
One of her colleagues suggested Jenny to message him on Facebook saying that they found his office address and what was the best time to meet him.
In the meanwhile, Jenny’s mother got a call from the guy and asked her where should he come to give the phone. Jenny saw that he read her message and must be shocked about Jenny getting to know his office address. After knowing that the guy is gonna return back her phone, her happiness had no limit. Jenny then decided to call the guy at her office area. The guy came and gave an unreasonable answer for not picking up the calls and switching off. Jenny was not concerned about his excuses at that moment but she was happy that she got her phone back. What else she’d need now? Though the guy finished approximately Rs.300/- mobile balance he returned the phone. And the most important thing, Jenny got all her confidential information on the phone back.
So through this blog post, I just want to encourage everyone not to give up to find their lost phones. Besides all these, you need to file a complaint about lost phone with your IMEI Number to Nepal Police though it’s not certain that you’ll find, you can hope to find it! Personally, I appreciate whatever Jenny did and request all of you to stay alert while handling your smartphones. As well as I personally suggest all of the smartphone users to install Android Device Manager and get their device located through it from time to time.
