Most Important Decision of Life - Career Selection

Before Joining Bachelors - an event proudly organized by Namaste Kathmandu was successfully held at Moksha, Jhamsikhel on 18th June, 2016 AD.  The registration for this event was done via Google Forms. The event had an estimated 100 guests, and approximately 85 students attended this event. This event provided me with ideas regarding my career as it gave us an opportunity to interact with professionals from various fields.
The event began with career trend talk by Mr. Rajan Koirala from MeroJob. He focused upon why even after thousands of job opportunities being  provided at MeroJob, majority of people still claim to be unemployed, this is due to lack of self realization in our competitive society. Many people who start their own businesses these days do not succeed because they lack proper communication as well as marketing skills. Reaching the “No. 1” status and maintaining it is very tough today. In the present scenario, the most trending job fields in Nepal are development related projects, IT, multinational companies & banking, education, tourism & hydro-power. As students, it's very important for us to continuously carry on with researches and study as per our interests. Without research, one cannot remain confident to take decisions. Along with the research projects, it's also important for every student to have faith, confidence and believe in themselves. If a student cannot develop these qualities within himself/herself then he/she will not be believed by others.
For a person who wants to be believed by others, he/she first must first believe in themselves. The generation has changed, and in this era of technologies, working is much easier. These days’ parents often let their children take their own career decisions so that they can become responsible and take charge of their own lives, but the child looks upon this opportunity as a freedom and ends up making reckless and regretful decisions. The child should instead take this opportunity to develop new skills. Students should never stop increasing their creative skills. When we see job vacancies, our eye goes on “minimum experience” and we end up thinking how a person can have experience when they're applying for a first job. Well, in such cases (entry level job) our experience can be regarded as all Extra Curricular Activities we have learnt, and achieved during our schooling. In our life, there is basically three educational time category. First one is the time when we learn something from others. It includes attending schools, high schools and universities. Second one is the time when we teach others. Generally, after completing undergraduate courses, we can teach our juniors and share our knowledge. The final one is the time when we become expert on something. In this time, no one teaches us but our learning, knowledge and skill exposes itself in front of the world through various articles.
In our real life, GPA score or any academic qualification doesn’t have any values unless it’s polished by our skills. Even though we aren’t sure to reach our planning’s, a goal setting is a must in our lives. When a student has to join a new college, he/she wonders about the college, but one important thing must always be considered, the college must be finalized on the basis of whether it can provide us with the things we want or not. In life, we meet different people at different places. Just meeting with new faces doesn't help us with anything, but if we are able to learn at least something from each one of them  our lives will be meaningful. To get a fruitful result in our life, we should have passion towards what we are doing along with the full devotion and patience. Most importantly, one should never give up believing nothing can be done, instead they should build up more confidence and faith and take charge of their problems and their lives.
The overall program was very good and it provided us with great tips and ideas regarding our future, our motive and proper career planning. The program provided its participants the rare opportunity of interacting with professionals and scholars of so many different fields. The speeches and the experiences shared by the speakers and the members of the panel discussion are bound to motivate and help the participants to work to fulfill their dreams and maintain multidisciplinary approach.
